The Australian higher education is structured around 39 major universities, public and private, all of them have good quality. Some even come prominently in the famous international rankings.
In 2010, the world ranking of universities (QS World University Rankings) classified 13% of the Australian universities in the top 50 universities.

Among them, the "Group of 8" first Australian universities are world-class campus, inviting the brightest students and renowned researchers and even Nobel Prize:

- The University of Sydney, regarded as the "Oxford of the antipodes"
- The University of Melbourne (UniMelb)
- The University of Queensland in Brisbane
- Australian National University (ANU) in Canberra
- University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Sydney
- The University of Western Australia (UWA)
- Monash University in Melbourne
- The university of Adelaide

Equipped with advanced research centers, huge libraries, ultra-modern sports facilities, they are big and beautiful villages comparable to American campuses. All disciplines are taught, humanities to engineering, through the law, marketing, languages, arts ... Most classes are held in small groups and teaching leaves a great deal to work staff and research.

Technical and vocational education in TAFE


If university studies do not suit you, know that it also exists in Australia more technical training comparable to BTS. They are taught in public institutions called TAFE or private colleges called (often Business Colleges). Depending on your level, you get certificates, diplomas and advanced diplomas of. Admission is from Tray possibly BEP, from the school record with a minimum level of English.

Tip: With a diploma in hand, you will not get the post study work visa that gives you the opportunity to work two years in Australia, this is for university graduates with at least a bachelor. But the diploma can sometimes allow to enter directly into the second year of bachelor degree in some universities.

How to get there?

The entry selection is made solely on record. You apply online for about six months in advance for a program and must provide a school record with your credentials and notes from previous years. It is of course a very good record to get into the top eight, but the consistency of your golf also account. Francophones must demonstrate a level of English with a minimum score on a language test (IELTS or TOEFL). Otherwise, we suggest you start by following three or six months of English classes.
The university meets you in 4 to 6 weeks, and if we assume, you adjust the amount of the first half, and get a "WCC" or letter of commitment with which you can apply for a student visa. There are two possible dates back: in February or July.

At what level of education?

Admission may be asked at any level, either directly after the tray first cycle (called undergraduate studies) for three-year bachelor's degree or second cycle (postgraduate studies) to obtain a master (in 1 or 2 years) or, of course, graduate to get a doctorate or an MBA.
It can therefore be performed all her studies in Australia, or complete a diploma in Senegal (eg license) with another in Australia. You can also benefit from an exchange between your university and a Senegalese Australia to study a semester in the land of kangaroos: in this case, in general, you validate the semester for your Senegalese degree. Excellent formula to improve English and discover Australia, it does, however, allow you to get an Australian degree (unless there is a double degree).
Note that we can also apply after L1 or L2 (LMD Credits have their equivalent in points), but more difficult with a DUT (to be discussed case by case).

The tuition for a bachelor's year can range from 8,000 to 11,000 dollars on average, from 10,000 to 17,000 dollars for a master. There are no study programs. The student visa, it costs about 500 dollars.

What you must add the daily living expenses, accommodation (rooms and halls of residence), food, transport and recreation, which average 900 to 1100 dollars per month. If the possibility of having a part time job (in cafes, restaurants) can help finance the daily life remains the big piece of academic rights.
